SECOND CYCLE DEGREE PROGRAMME 

The studies last 4 semesters in the daily, full – time mode - S (on site). 

The studies are completed with obtaining a Master’s degree (magister).

CARRIER

The graduate possesses the qualifications to perform the job of a physical education teacher in all the types of schools and kinds of educational units. An extensive preparation in the field of theory and agility of the graduate of that department enables him/her to implement didactic, tutoring and care tasks in a complex way. Due to the acquired knowledge, he/she is prepared to work in public administration sector cooperating with organizations and sport societies and to conduct individual economic activity.

The graduate is prepared to continue education and self - education at the third cycle degree programme and acquire additional qualifications in sport.

The graduate knows a foreign language at B2+ level of CEFR and is able to use the specialist language connected with the area of physical culture science.

Teacher - trainer (trainer Major – sport for selection: football, handball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, swimming, personal trainer, motoric preparation trainer)

The graduate has the trainer qualifications in a chosen sport discipline; The trainer has the qualifications for individual planning, organizing, conducting and control of the sport education process in a given sport discipline and he/she is prepared to perform classes in sport clubs and classes as a school sport; qualifications of personal training within the area of teacher – trainer Major offer the possibility to perform an interesting, creative, well – paid job where it is possible to utilize theoretical and practical competence encompassing different kinds of forms and methods of training, elements of dietetics and supplementation and elementary issues of psychology for the sake of individualisation training effects with simultaneous minimizing the injury risk.

PROGRAMME OF STUDIES

The program of studies, in accordance with the standards of teacher education, includes preparation in:

  • substantive,
  • psychological and pedagogical,
  • didactic.

PRACTICES

Compulsory internships are carried out for 240 hours, including:

  • general pedagogical (30 hours),
  • subject practice at school (120 hours),
  • instructor practice (90 hours).

The choice of sports specialty in the course of study, is made in the 3th semester.

Professional status:

Knowledge The graduates of Physical Education with a specialty as a teacher – coach have gained an extensive and organized knowledge of the biological, psychological and social aspects with regard to all stages of human development. They know and comprehend the basic rights and obligations of a physical education teacher and a sports coach. The graduates have knowledge in the area of the design and implementation of sports training for children, adolescents and adults. They have knowledge regarding the practical application of teaching principles and detailed methodology in pedagogical practice and sports and recreational activities as well as use of diagnostic tests applicable in the professional practice of a teacher and a sports coach. The graduates have gained an organized and advanced knowledge in the area of designing the path of their professional development and advancement. Skills The graduates of the teacher-coach program possess and present technical and tactic skills in the area of team and individual sports. They are capable of efficiently conducting physical activities in the field of a variety of forms of physical activity, can assess the level of fitness and skills and abilities of children and can adapt the style of teaching to the level of perception, age and abilities of participants. The graduates can develop a program of sport and recreational activities to cater for the needs of a specific group of participants and develop an original program in the area of health education, physical education and sports. The graduates are capable of independently stating the goals of teaching of sports and recreation activities, depending on the needs and the conditions of the environment, climatic and conditions of the available facilities, and can keep records of their teaching work. On the basis of knowledge of research methodology, they are able to provide diagnostic examination and evaluation in physical education and is able to combine the application of adequate equipment in the research and teaching with the ability to follow safety rules and regulations. They have acquired a foreign language at the B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and are able to use the language in the field of physical education and are able to continue self-learning and personal development. Competences The graduates of Physical Education program with a specialization as a teacher – coach have the qualifications of a class 2. coach in a selected sport discipline and are prepared to fulfill the educational, teaching and supervisory roles of a physical education teacher in all types of schools and in clubs and sports organizations. In addition, the graduates are trained to perform duties in cultural centers, sports centers, educational institutions (on a commune and local government scale) and in the public administration sector in cooperation with sport organizations and associations as well as can run their businesses. Class 2. coaches have the ability and rights to plan, organize, run and control the training processes in a specific sport discipline and are prepared to conduct classes in sports clubs and classes in the school sport and sport of disabled people. The graduates can communicate and apply techniques of listening and empathic understanding, as well as apply an efficient and creative solution of conditions. They have the ability to express their feelings in the circumstances of social interaction and demonstrate the characteristics of a reflective practice. The graduates understand the need for continuous improvement in the field of qualifications and professional competences and are aware of the importance of motivation, regularity and diligence in the cognitive activity of the teacher – sport coach and subject of educational impact. They have acquired the skills of a professional teacher and in the development of physical culture to the level that enables them to learn independently and to continue learning at a higher level so as to be able to obtain higher professional degrees.
